Your kid's first real Sea lesson in Ibiza: The Family Boat trip
Meet the Sea's Family boat trip is an Ibiza boat trip dedicated to learning about the sea. A real sea lesson to learn about marine life and, mostly, to learn how to feel comfortable at sea.
Our Family boat trip is a transformational experience at sea: non-swimmers and beginner snorkellers find here the safest and most fun way to interact with the sea. The 5-hour trip if you depart from San Antonio or 4-hour trip if you depart from Port des Torrent gets incomparable reviews.
What you learn in your Sea lesson: safety at sea first!
First, the importance of feeling safe at all times during your sea experience. We always do a "fitting session" during our boat trips before you get intothe water. Our team selects the ideal mask for your snorkelling for each passenger, children and adults.
Second, we fit you with a life vest if you want one. Parents have to let us know if children will be needing one. We have all sizes!
Third, we show you how to hang on to the life saver that is pulled by our snorkelling guide. Our guide makes sure that the combination of life saver and life vest makes you feel doubly secure!
And... thats it! ready to swim, snorkel and enjoy our snorkelling tour. Our tours are limited to 12 people so our guide can keep an eye on each one of you at all times!
Next step: Learning about dioversity and seeing marine life!
Once you are equipped and feeling safe, our snorkelling tour begins around the calm waters of our protected Conillera island bay.
Our guide show you in shallow waters the incredible marine life that lives in the Nature Reserve of Conillera: we see starfish, octopuses, Posidonia or neptune grass, sea urchins, sea cucumbers, ornate wrasses, salemas, painted combers and..many more!
This is a great way for children to become one with the sea: watching sea creatures live only a few inches away. This enhances their confidence, presents the sea in a friendly way, develops their empathy for living creatures and increases their understanding of sustainability.
The final and most important lesson: Gaining Self-confidence thanks to the Sea
Swimming pools are a great start for children. They learn to swim, they learn to float, to be comfortable in the water.
However, swimming pools are limited: they are small compared to the ocean, surrounded by lots of people and have no marine life.
The sea, on the other hand, is vast, scary for some and a huge source of self-confidence if properly approched.
How do we make sure that children get self-confidence?
- By showing them how to float and feel confident in sea water
- Nurturing their ability to swim from boat to shore slowly and securely
- Creating small challenges to increase their ability to swim longer and farther
- Being very close to them in the water while they gradually grow their confidence
- Developping their risk assessment skills so they will always feel safe at sea
To us, this is what a first sea lesson for kids should look like: safe, closely guided by instructors, learning about marine life and developping their self-confidence.
