Sea education is today a pillar of any child's teaching. We share at Meet the Sea the words of Sir David Attenborough, "If we save the sea, we save our world". Therefore, it is important that we start shaping the minds and hearts of children to be comfortable at sea from a young age. Only knowing the sea we will be able to care for it as it deserves.
What The Family Boat trip is about
It is a trip designed for families with two key moments during the 5-hour trip from San Antonio or 4-hour trip from Port des Torrent.
- Live presentation about Biodiversity and the species we see:
We start our trip with a fun presentation about the species that we most frequently see in Ibiza: Octopus, Sea bream, Salema, Posidonia or neptune grass, painted comber, rainbow wrasse, ornate wrasse, sea cucumber, sea tomato, noble pen shell, sea urchin and peacock's tail.
Our team introduces during the journey to the Nature Reserve of Conillera Island fun facts and photos about the species that we see during our guided snorkelling tour, designed by our marine biologist.
Each species has its own info sheet shown on board and distributed and explained by the team. You may find a complete list of species and info sheets for many of them in our website, under species.
2. Guided snorkelling tour through the Nature Reserve of Conillera island for snorkelling beginners:
After the presentation, we arrive to the Nature reserve. Calm waters in a protected bay await us. An ideal setting for beginner snorkelers to receive their first real lesson at sea. After our team fit you with mask, snorkel and lifevest, our guide awaits in the sea to take you on a wonderful snorkelling tour.
Our guide always leads with a lifesaver, attached to his shoulder with a lifeline. This is a key element to ensure safety and slef-confidence for our youngest swimmers and snokellers.
Once in the water, sea education begins. We see through our mask the magic of Posidonia meadows, the homes built by octopuses protected by pebbles and shells, the colours of the rainbow wrasse and the surprising habits of the seaa urchin.
All species are in complete freedom and the guide explains each one of them in detail, as we watch them right in front of us.
