We are Meet the Sea, a company based in Ibiza that aims to bring the sea closer to the minds of students around the world.

How the sea trip was conceived

Since the summer of 2020, we have welcomed more than 10,000 passengers to our daily Family boat trip from May to October each year.  The trip was conceived as a celebration of sea and family, a 4-hour adventure that would introduce all the beauty and transformative power of the sea to an audience of all ages.

We have received overwhelming support from our clients and friends, some of whom keep coming summer after summer, looking to renew that wonderful family memory at sea. We, as a team, have been able to ascertain the impact of sea experiences in children and adults: the personal growth and evolution over the course of the trip of those previously daunted by the sea.

Children afraid of deep waters, adults with thalassophobia or those that had negative experiences at sea, suddenly “felt much better, more confident” about themselves when in the water.  As the years passed, reviews kept pouring in always underlining a common element: the fear of the unknown sea had been overcome.

And so, we became gradually more convinced of the need to expand our message to those who do not live near the sea or whose parents were unlikely or unable to take their children on a holiday by the sea. Our SEA TRIP was born from observation, from daily evidence and shaped into being through our team´s imagination.

What is the Sea trip?

Meet the Sea’s “Sea Trip” combines education, sports and entertainment into a series of activities that have the sea as protagonist. Our intention is not only to educate children about marine matters, but mainly to bring the sea to the main stage of their thoughts when considering new hobbies or even career paths. And this begins with feeling more comfortable at sea, enjoying the open waters and putting aside our fears.

The Sea trip’s activities expose students to elements of marine biology, sustainability, sea sports, cutting-edge sea technology and pure and simple fun at sea. The experience is further enriched by the possibility of living our activities in Spanish, or simply in English surrounded by the wealth of mediterranean tradition.

I recently read that Sir David Attenborough thought that our future will largely be determined by our relationship with the ocean. Perhaps it is time to make the oceans more present in our lives. After all, ski trips have been present in schools for decades, but sea trips are nowhere as prevalent.

We want to thank King Edward VI High school for Girls for sharing in our vision of the importance that the sea should occupy in a young individual’s education. With our team’s passion and the beautiful island of Ibiza as background to your adventure, we hope to welcome other schools here soon…

See you at sea!
