Gregorio Cañellas, Founder

Meet the sea is the result of Gregorio’s conviction that today’s young generation must acquire a deeper understanding of our oceans through direct exposure. As an organisation, we prioritise the value of personal growth through experiences at sea and strive to provide memorable activities to families and students.
Born in Ibiza, his earliest memories are of sunny summer holidays spent with his family by the sea. Nowadays, snorkelling with the new generation and designing activities with the sea as protagonist are his passion.
Gregorio is a graduate from St. Paul’s school (Concord, New Hampshire, US) Class of 1986. Hamilton College (Clinton, New York, US) Class of 91 and the Kellogg School of management (Evanston, Illinois, US) Class of 1996.
At sea, Gregorio was a Sailing instructor at Calanova (Majorca, Spain) during the summers of 1986-1990 and holds a Superyacht brokerage certificate from the Maritime Training Academy (Surrey, England) from 2019.

Luisa Mínguez, Co-founder

Luisa felt the attraction of the sea and Ibiza from a very young age. After the completion of her marketing studies in Madrid she became a full-time resident of her beloved island and embarked on a nautical career specializing in local private charters and boat excursions.

Over the years she combined her work in a wide variety of boats at the local marinas with the completion of a number of nautical certifications.

It is her abundant experience in the Ibiza marine industry that persuaded her of the need to create experiences specifically designed for families revolving around the sea and marine life.

Luisa has concentrated in ensuring customer satisfaction and identifying new business partners for Meet the Sea.

She holds PPER and skipper of passenger ships licenses.

Carlos Recarte, Partner

Carlos is one of the three partners in Meet the Sea, and a very
welcome addition to our group in 2021.

He is managing partner at Recarte & Fontenla, a Madrid-based executive search firm that specialises in the evaluation and recruitment of managers and board members.

Carlos, a long-time friend of our founder, generously lends his wealth of experience to Meet the Sea in business development and finding solutions for our corporate strategy and growth. He is also an avid fan of the sea and is particularly committed to the concept of sustainability in all areas of our experiences.

Helena Margot, Molecular and Marine biologist

Helena is an expert in our Ibiza waters having enjoyed them from childhood and later as a professional diver over the past three decades. She spends a considerable amount of time in her beloved Ibiza home and is a key figure in our team as well as an inspiration to all of us. She started her career as a researcher of anti-carcinogenic drugs and later served as a scientific advisor to the government of Equatorial Guinea.

We have benefitted from her advice in the design of our marine experiences for an international audience of children and adults and enjoyed her support of Meet the Sea from its inception. She continues to inspire our imagination as an avid gastrobotanist with her exciting current projects with Gurú lab in Madrid and El silencio in Cala Molí, Ibiza.

Elizabeth Villaret

Elizabeth is an example to us all. At the age of 77, she is out on the boat everyday looking after the comfort and wellbeing of all families onboard and particularly the little ones. Her energy, kindness and effort have been the subject of many reviews from our clients over the years. May you continue to be our guiding beacon for many years!

Vincent Ledoux, Skipper

Vincent is our skipper and proof of the emphasis we place in safety and professionalism at sea. He always finds a safe place to anchor and provide optimal conditions for our snorkelling experience. He is prudent, a thorough analyst of the vessel’s engines and a perfectionist.
When not at the helm, he is generous in his effort to assist our passengers with life vests, accessing the sea and watching out for their security. On the way back from our journeys at sea he is often found in his cabin showing children how to steer the boat… they love it! Thank you Vincent for guiding Meet the Sea during our sea adventures!

Bruno Hernández, Chef

Chef Bruno is both, a great a chef at the renowned Can Berri Vell classic restaurant and a beloved teacher at the local gastronomy school of IES Sa Serra.

He has been instrumental in creating our Meet the Sea sunset experience through the design of a menu that displays the history and tradition of Ibiza cuisine and produce. His passion, attention to detail and creative mind earns the respect of his clients, students and those who, like us, are fortunate to work with him.

Aina Mayo, Chef

Aina’s smile is always there! Always present as well are her passion for cooking, her dedication to the creation of a delicious Paella at sea and her commitment to the team. If cooking in itself is no easy task, doing so at sea presents many challenges… that she somehow braved through wind and waves!

We often see her on the boat surrounded by children who become sous-chefs or dressed up as a pirate leading a thrilling treasure hunt for the little ones.

Sandy Valey, artist

Exceptional performances from Sandy at sunset throughout the summer!

We are so thrilled to have launched our Meet the sea sunset with a true artist that displays a thunderous stage presence and, at the same time, deep sensitivity. Her personality comes through in every one of her songs and her interpretation fills the magic moments of dusk with elegance.

She continues to mesmerise audiences in the island of Ibiza and beyond.

Carlos Rentería, Cocktail bar

Carlos joined us as a cocktail expert for our Meet the Sea sunset and provided delightful mixes to make that indescribable moment at sea even more memorable.

Carlos is now also a part of the Family Boat trip team extending his kindness and know-how to families beyond the bar and into the sea.

Patricia Rodriguez De Los Rios, Advisor

Patricia is an accountant by trade who helps us streamline our purchasing decisions and guides us in our digital marketing strategy, her second talent and passion.

You may also find Patricia occasionally lending a hand in our activities, at sea or on the boat, as she is a long-time resident of Ibiza who loves the sea. Always energetic and with a contagious smile, Patricia has been involved in different areas of Meet the Sea since 2021.

Jesica Traicovich, Audiovisual producer

Jes keeps our Meet the Sea journey well documented with her passion for video and music. Her GoPro is constantly surrounding us in and out of the water!

We are particularly thankful for her dedication and patience in creating content and relentless editing prowess. This year she has helped us in developing specific content for our subaquatic drone which has added a new dimension to our company in offering our clients a new experience in Ibiza.

Her avid desire to learn and constant energy and smile always motivates us.

Etienne Rosler, Tour guide

Etienne is a true inspiration for those who love Ibiza. A long-time resident, she is an expert on outdoor activities ranging from snorkelling to hiking, biking, kayaking and stargazing. Her expertise in marine flora and fauna and friendliness has delighted our visitors all season. She makes compelling live presentations on board and follows through with a detailed guided snorkelling tour drawing on her vast experience. Etienne is fluent in Spanish, German and English, a fact our international audience really appreciated!
